I hosted a beautiful women’s circle the other night, in person, here in the desert with my Creative Women’s group. We just started meeting once a month back a few ( I would love to hold this circle virtually too, if any of you are interested!), and it is a small, intimate circle of connection, vulnerability, sharing, some tears, some laughter, but a heartfelt time of community, and uplifting each other.

One of my revelations this week is the idea of softness. And even though I love my womanness, my sensuality and sexiness, over the years I had been working gung-ho with all of my businesses, for all of my life. Working 24/7, handling all of the facets of each of my multiple businesses, trying to be wonderwoman.

Yes, many times I was on fire with creation, spirit leading me into more co-creation, excited about all the possibilities. And I love that deep connection with myself and bringing dreams into manifestation.

Yet I lost a lot of my softness. I felt like I had to harden up to get things done. And I did. Somewhere along the way, I lost my juice, my creative passion. Oh, it is still there, but in a smaller force.

And I want it back!  I am claiming it now. And it feels delicious.

Midlife and even later life, can be a time of great change and transition. It’s a time when many women are reassessing their lives and making choices that will shape their future. For some women, this means taking the time, and  allowing ourselves to step into a new sense of softness.

That’s what I’m talking about.

What does it mean to step into your softness?

It means letting go of the need to control everything and allowing life to unfold in its own way. It means being gentle with ourselves and others, and accepting that we are all perfectly imperfect. It means embracing our femininity and sensuality, and living from a place of love and compassion.

Stepping into softness is not always easy. It can be challenging to let go of old habits and patterns, and to trust that life will provide for us. But it is a journey that is worth taking. When we step into softness, we open ourselves up to a whole new world of possibilities.

Do you relate to this? That is what I’ve been finding out, too, with my clients, always pushing and striving ( not thriving), to get it all done. To please everyone. To feel the rewards of achievement, or over-achievement.

But what are the rewards?

Exhaustion, burnout, loss of passion, loss of pleasure, loss of fun, loss of softness…

This is what I see, what I share, about allowing yourself to step into softness:

  • Let go of control. One of the biggest challenges of midlife is learning to let go of control. We’ve spent our lives trying to control everything, from our careers to our relationships to our bodies. But in midlife, we realize that we can’t control everything. And that’s okay. When we let go of control, we open ourselves up to new possibilities. YES!
  • Be gentle with yourself and others. Midlife is a time when we’re often hard on ourselves. We may be critical of our appearance, our accomplishments, and our relationships. But it’s important to be gentle with ourselves during this time of transition. We’re all doing the best we can. And we all deserve to be treated with love and compassion.
  • Embrace your femininity and sensuality. BRING IT BACK! Midlife is a time to embrace our femininity and sensuality. We’re no longer young and carefree, but we’re still beautiful and desirable. Let’s enjoy this time in our lives and celebrate our bodies.
  • Live from a place of love and compassion. Midlife is a time to live from a place of love and compassion. We’ve been through a lot in our lives, and we’ve learned a lot. WE are not wise women. Let’s use our wisdom to help others and make a difference in the world.

Stepping into softness is a journey, not a destination. It’s a process of letting go, accepting, allowing, and embracing. It’s a journey that is worth taking. When we step into softness, we open ourselves up to a whole new world of possibilities.

To be a possibiliarian!

To live out loud. To show up and stand up and participate in our overall wellbeing and our passions and our new desires!

I believe in you.

May this journey be filled with purpose, fulfillment, and softness.
